Southern Football is excited to announce our Referee Hubs will be continuing for the 2024 season after a successful pilot in 2023.
FAQs
How old must I be?
Referees must be at least 3 years older than the grade they are refereeing. If referees progress to Senior Football, they must be at least 14 years old.
Will I be paid?
Yes - Referees can earn up between $20 and $45 per game depending on the grade.
How many games will I referee?
Referees can referee up to 4 games a day.
Will I be given a kit?
Yes! Thanks to the New Zealand Football Foundation - Referees will be given a top, shorts and socks as well as a whistle and cards.
Where are the Hubs?
In 2024 - the hubs will be operating at Sunnyvale, Logan Park turf and if we have enough interest, we will send a referee coach to a location that works for you!
I haven't refereed before - will I learn how?
Yes! We will put all participants through a level one course before being helped on their first games at the hubs.
Is there a pathway to more games?
Absolutely! The hub aims to give Youth referees the chance to learn how to referee. From there - Referees can move to Senior games as Referees or Assistant referees and earn from $45 per match.
