Join Southern Football, the governing body overseeing football in South Canterbury, Waitaki, Dunedin, Central Otago, Clutha, and Southland. We're seeking a dedicated Girls and Women's Football Development Officer (FDO) based in Dunedin.

This role offers an exciting chance to lead and support initiatives that empower girls and women in football.

Position: Girls and Women's Football Development Officer
Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Reports to: Football Development Manager
Location: Dunedin (with a wide-reaching impact across the federation)

Your Role: As a Girls and Women's Football Development Officer, your mission is to drive projects and programmes centered around girls' and women's football. By fostering community engagement and cultivating talent, you will shape the future of football in your region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the "Bridging the Gap" action plan, facilitating the transition to a club-based National Women's League.
  • Plan and facilitate coach education, promoting growth among girls and women.
  • Collaborate with clubs to enhance the expertise of female coaches and volunteers.
  • Organize events aligning with girls' and women's month.
  • Contribute to the "Legacy starts now" initiative for 2023 and beyond.
  • Develop and oversee programs targeting girls' talent development.
  • Align strategies with Southern Football and New Zealand Football directives.
  • Support community activities with other regional staff.
  • Lead football programs in schools with colleagues in Dunedin and the region.
  • Implement programs to advance girls' and women's player development.


About You: You're a team player, a flexible communicator, and a multitasker capable of meeting challenges head-on. Your impeccable administration skills, attention to detail, and willingness to work evenings and weekends are key assets for this diverse role.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proficiency with technology.
  • Exceptional communication skills, especially with time-constrained volunteers.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience organizing programs, events, or competitions.
  • Strong customer service abilities, fostering enjoyable sporting experiences.
  • Adept at engaging with young players, igniting their passion for the game.
  • Excellent organisational, administrative, planning, and reporting skills.
  • Proven record of contributing positively to team efforts.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
  • Background in playing and/or coaching football (advantageous).
  • Familiarity with New Zealand football and clubs.
